Jack Hogan III  -  01/25/1979  -  07/29/2010 (31 yrs)

John F. "Jack" Hogan III, 31, of Baden, passed away tragically on Thursday, July 29, 2010.

Born Jan. 25, 1979, in Sewickley, he was the only son of Janet DeVincent Hogan of Ambridge and the late John F. "Jack" Hogan Jr. A 1997 graduate of Ambridge Area High School, Jack was an outstanding natural athlete, playing baseball for many years, but found his greatest joy in 2008 when he married the love of his life and only 8 weeks ago, welcomed a precious baby girl into the world. He wanted nothing more than to be a good husband and father and delighted in the short time he spent in doing so. He was bursting at the seams with love, pride and joy for his beloved family.

Jack was also a loving and devoted son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend whose smile lit up a room and whose happiness and laughter were contagious. He was an avid sports fan who loved his Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. He loved life and lived it to the fullest and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his adored mother, he is survived by his wife who brought so much love and happiness into Jack's life, Sarah Stonfer Hogan and their daughter, Delaney Ryan, truly his dream come to life; sisters and brother-in-law, Erin and Michael Jeter and Kelly Hogan; two nephews, who he adored and called his "best friends," Ryan Jeter and Brady Hogan, all of Ambridge; his mother-in-law, Judy Stonfer; father-in-law, Dennis Stonfer; brothers-in-law, Caleb and Nathan Stonfer, all of Harmony Township; aunts and uncles, Joseph and Carol DeVincent, Loretta and Dennis Cottage, Rick and Andrea DeVincent and Jeffrey DeVincent; Sarah's family, who loved Jack unconditionally including, grandparents, John "Hickory" and Joan Wood and Bill and Helen Stonfer, all of Baden.

There to greet Jack in Heaven, in addition to his father, who was also his best friend, are his heroic grandfather, Joseph "PupPup" DeVincent; his nephew, Chase Jackson Jeter; a close cousin, who Jack considered a brother, Justin DeVincent, and both his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. in the JOHN SYKA FUNERAL HOME INC., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, with his pastor, the Rev. Jill McGregor officiating.

Interment will follow in the Good Samaritan Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a special foundation has been established for Delaney Ryan Hogan, c/o Huntington National Bank, 1685 W. State Street, Baden, PA 15005.

"He was like a nova, a star so bright that it burns out quickly, but not before lighting up everything around it."
