Jack Hogan

08/22/2000 (52 yrs) Jack Hogan, 52, of Baden, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2000, in his residence, after a brave two year battle with cancer. Born June 19, 1948, a son of the late John and Dorothy Corbett Hogan, he was a lifetime resident of Baden. He was a 1966 graduate of Ambridge High School and received a degree in Business from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1981, and was employed by Crown Coal and Coke in Pittsburgh. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the National Institute of Certified Public Accounts, the National Society of Tax Professionals, and the National Society of Accountants. He was also a member of the United States Air National Guard, 171st Squadron, Coraopolis, serving for six years, the Baden American Legion Post 641, the Ambridge VFW, the St. Nicholas Lodge 304, C.F.U., Ambridge, and was a member of Good Samaritan Parish, St. Veronica Church. He was an avid baseball fan and found much joy in playing, coaching, and even just watching the game. He was dedicated to the youth of Baden, coaching baseball for 12 years with the Baden Youth Association. He also coached boys and girls basketball at Ambridge Area Catholic School (now Good Samaritan) for six years. He is survived by his dedicated wife, Janet DeVincent Hogan; his beloved children, Erin Romaine Hogan, Jack Hogan III, and Kelly Joelle Hogan, all of Baden; a niece and nephew, Kenly and Tyler Fenio, in Florida; a brother-in-law, Ken Fenio, in Florida; a dear friend, whom he considered a brother, John Baker and his wife, Minnie, and their sons, all of Baden; two aunts, Leona Corbett, Baden, and Kathleen Hogan, Beaver; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jeffrey DeVincent, Savannah, Ga.; Joseph and Carol DeVincent, Ambridge; Rick and Andrea DeVincent, Baden, and Loretta and Dennis Cottage, Beaver; a longtime friend, Steve Grguric, Economy, and many cousins, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy (Corbett) Hogan, in April of 1999; his father, John Hogan, in Dec. of 1999, and his sister, Mary Jo (Hogan) Fenio, in Oct. of 1994. Friends were received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the JOHN SYKA FUNERAL HOME, 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, where a service was conducted on Friday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Veronica Church with his friend, Father Al Zapf, as celebrant. Interment was in the Good Samaritan Parish Cemetery, Bell Acres. The Beaver County Special Unit met in the Good Samaritan Cemetery on Friday at 10:30 a.m. and provided full military honors. |
