Chase Jackson Jeter  -  08/16/2005  -  09/16/2006 (1 yr)

The precious one-year-old son of Michael and Erin Hogan Jeter of Ambridge, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2006 in Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Chase was born on August 16, 2005 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, weighing only 1lb. 6oz.  He was hospitalized for almost the whole year of his life and overcame many challenges due to his prematurity, but always did so with a smile.  He captured the heart of anyone who knew him and brought so much joy and happiness to everyone around him.  To know Chase was truly to love him.

There to greet him in Heaven are his maternal grandfather whom he was named after, Jack Hogan and his paternal grandparents, Carl “Toots” and Lula Jeter Kirkpatrick; his great-grandparents, Joseph and Leah Cinquini DeVincent;  David and Betty Norman Jeter; and Sandy and Elizabeth Kirkpatrick.

In addition to his parents, Chase is survived by his twin brother, Rylan Carl Jeter; his maternal grandmother, Janet DeVincent Hogan of Ambridge; loving aunts and uncles, Catherine Jeter-Smith and Kelly Hogan, both of Ambridge;  Kennon Jeter of Pittsburgh; Jack Hogan of Baden; JR Kirkpatrick of Beaver Falls; and Bryan Marshall of Pittsburgh; a special great-uncle, Jeffrey DeVincent of Savannah, GA; close cousins, Brady Hogan, and Monte, Chazmin, Jevon and Jevar Smith, all of Ambridge; his godparents, John and Minnie Baker of Baden, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Chase also leaves behind an extended family of doctors and nurses at Allegheny General Hospital  and Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh who provided him excellent care and lots of extra special love and TLC.

Friends and family were received Tuesday, September 19 at the Bohn-Matich Funeral Home, 1099 Maplewood Avenue, Ambridge, where a service was held on Wednesday, September 20 with the Reverend Father Samuel Esposito of Good Samaritan Parish officiating.

Interment followed in Economy Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Chase’s name to Allegheny General Hospital’s Intensive Care Nursery or Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh’s  Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

“He was like a nova, a star so bright that it burns out quickly, but not before lighting up everything around it.”
