The Family Pets

Cleo the Cat

Cleo  seems to be the favorite cat with most people. She has a very friendly disposition. Cleo was born in March of 1994. Marianne and Melissa had the idea that it was time for a second cat (Mittens was our only pet at the time).

I suggested that maybe we should get a Bird for a new pet. One day while I was at work.. Marianne and Melissa drove over to the pet store (to get a bird.. I thought!) When I got home from work.. there was this little kitten..

"Let's call her CLEO" said Melissa. "Oh Dad isn't she cute.. how could we resist!"

Chester the Cockatiel
was born in March of 1994. We purchased him at a local Pet Store in East Bradford, Pennsylvania when he was about 4 months old. Chester loves to spend most of his time looking at himself in the mirror. He speaks in a way that is understandable but not quite as clear as KoKo(our African Grey Parrot). Chester says things like.. "Pretty Bird" "Hi Chester" and "Pretty Bird Chester".

KoKo... The African Grey Parrot

KoKo was born in California during the month of March in 1995.  We purchased him at a local pet store in Frazer, PA when he was about 3 months old.  African Greys are supposed to be among the best talkers in the world of Parrots.  KoKo is no exception when it comes to talking... he generally keeps us all laughing with the things that he says and some of the crazy sounds that he makes.

This is a picture of Dusty!

Dusty was our eight year old male cat. We got him in June of 1995.

He died on Monday, Sept 29, 2003.

(we really loved this cat!)

Mittens

Mittens - Oct. 1989 - Feb. 2007 (17 years)

Mittens was the oldest of our pets. She was born in October of 1989. We got her at the S.P.C.A. when she was just a kitten. (a special gift for Melissa's 10th birthday).

Melissa and Mittens enjoyed over 17 years of companionship. She was a special furry friend, who was there for Melissa to help share many happy times.

Mittens arrived when Melissa's was just in Elementary School and she continued to be part of our family all through Melissa's days in Middle School, High School and College.

Mittens later moved to Virginia, where she lived with Melissa and her husband, Steve.  She learned to tolerate her larger furry brother (Coaly, the dog) and thankfully managed to live long enough to meet her human sister, Lauren (Melissa and Steve's first child).

Mittens died on Monday, February 5th, 2007

She will be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved her.
